Due Due Friday: October 14. Identifying Contextual evidence to support this statement

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2000/11/001120074801.htm: Find contextual Evidence that supports the statement as well as id the function of the Golgi Apparatus and bolded words. Researchers at Yale have discovered that, contrary to previous beliefs, the Golgi apparatus is an organelle that exists independently of the endoplasmic reticulum and is a crucial component of cell division.

  1. Cell division:

"In normal cell division, a mother cell divides into two daughters and the division is regulated until it stops."

    Golgi apparatus & textual evidence:

"Researchers once thought that the Golgi apparatus was no more than an outgrowth of an organelle called the endoplasmic reticulum," said Graham Warren, professor of cell biology at Yale and a leading expert in the field. "We’ve shown that it is an organelle within a cell that has its own autonomy and so must grow and divide to keep pace with the growth and division of the cell it inhabits."

    ER:

    Biology Sixth Edition

"An extensive membranous network in eukaryotic cells, continuous with the outer nuclear membrane and composed of ribosome-studded (rough) and ribosome-free (smooth) regions."

The endoplasmic reticulum manufactures membranes and performs many other biosynthetic functions.

"Golgi apparatus was no more than an outgrowth of an organelle called the endoplasmic reticulum"

    Cell Divison

"In a skin melanoma, for example, the cell division inexplicably starts up again and continues unregulated."

  3. cell division: A mother cell divides into two daughter cells and is regulated untill stopped.in a skin melanoma, for example the cell division starts up again and continues unregulating.

Golgi apparatus:"Researches once thought that the golgi apparatus was no more than an out growth of an organelle called the endoplasmic reticulum."

ER (endoplasmic reticulum): "Weve shown that this is an organelle within a cell that has its own autonomy and so must grow and divide to keep pace with the growth and division of the cell it inhabits."

  4. Cell division: Is when a skin melanome is formed from a mother cell, which divides into two daughter forms and keeps regulating until it is stopped

Golgi Apparatus: Researchers on thought that Golgi Apparatus was no more than an outgrowth of an organelle called endoplasmic reticulum.

Endoplasmic Reticulum: Organelle within the cell and must grow and divide to keep the pace of growth with its inhabits due to having its own autonomy.

cell division: is the process in reproduction and growth by which a cell divides to form daughter cells which keeps regulating until its stopped.
Golgi Apparatus: is a cell organelle, composed of layers of flattened sacs, that processes proteins and moves some of them out of the cell. Researchers once thought that the Golgi apparatus was no more than an outgrowth of an organelle called the endoplasmic reticulum, said Graham Warren, professor of cell biology at Yale and a leading expert in the field.
endoplasmic reticulum:is a network of tubular membranes within the cytoplasm of the cell, occurring either with a smooth surface(smooth endoplasmic reticulum)or studded with ribosomes (rough endoplasmic reticulum)involved in the transport of materials.
